The group also donated VND500 million (more than US$21,500) to the scholarship funds of nine schools in Long Khanh A, Long Khanh B and Hong Ngu districts of the province.
Nhe is a retired teacher who used to teach at Long Khanh A3 Primary School. With the love of local students, she has worked with Novaland Group to support needy students over the past 13 years.
Addressing the scholarship presentation ceremony, Nguyen Huu Tien, head of the Education and Training Department of Hong Ngu District, said: “The district has frequently received donations from Novaland Group to improve school facilities and support local students. The Teacher Nhe Scholarship program has given the students a brighter future, helping them become good citizens.”
Pham Thi Dan Thanh, who received the Teacher Nhe scholarships in three years and is now a university student, said: “My family does not have land, so my parents have to work for other people. Sometimes I felt like I had to quit school due to poverty. Thanks to the Teacher Nhe Scholarship program and the support from my teachers and classmates, I can pursue my studies.”
This year Novaland Group has given scholarships to thousands of students nationwide. In January-September, the group spent some VND60 billion on community activities like building schools and bridges, and providing many schools in the Mekong Delta with water purifying machines, which has helped thousands of students and teachers get access to clean water.
