On August 8th 2018, The HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients (SAPP) and Novaland Group handed over 346 water purifying machines to 27 schools in Tan Tru district of Long An province, providing clean drinking water for nearly 14,000 teachers and students before new school year.
From January 2018, Novaland Group committed to accompany with the "Drinkable Water for School" program launched by SAPP. The program aimed to provide clean water meeting the Pasteur Institute’s standards for students and teachers at schools in remote areas, especially in the provinces are affected by the climate change.
After a series of field trips, the signing ceremony for the implementation of the "Drinkable Water for School" program at 27 kindergartens, elementary, middle and high schools in Tan Tru district, Long An province took place from 05/2018. Through more than two months of implementing, 346 water purifying machines were installed just before the new school year. These machines worth more than 2.3 billion, supported by Novaland Group.

Tan Tru is a remote district of the Mekong Delta province of Long An. Although the area is surrounded by Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay rivers, its population is facing clean water shortage due to saltwater intrusion. According to Truong Thanh Liem, chairman of Tan Tru District, many schools in the district don’t have sufficient facilities to provide clean water to their students. They mainly use well water which is of low quality.
“We very much appreciate the support and will carefully maintain these machines so that our teachers and students can use clean water everyday,” he said.
In the new school year 2018 - 2019, nearly 14,000 students and teachers in Tan Tru District can use clean drinking water.
On the occasion of the handover ceremony, the STF-Pham Phu Thu scholarship program and Novaland donated 100 scholarships worth VND100 million to support poor students in Tan Tru district.

Le Nguyen Thao Nhi, 7th grade students of Tan Tru Secondary School, said: "For us, every day to school is a joy; and the joy is duplicated this year because we have clean drinking water at school. I hope not only us but also many other students can use clean water”.
In addition to Tan Tru district of Long An province, the “Drinkable water for schools” program is being carried out in Thanh Phu district of Ben Tre province. Total funding for the two areas amounts to nearly VND6 billion.
The water purifying system in Thanh Phu District is expected to be put into operation ahead of the 2018-2019 school year.
