On September 10, 2022, the contest “Vietnam's aspiration turning Phan Thiet into the world leading destination for MICE and Wellness tourism in 2045” was officially launched and announced at Centara Mirage Resort Mui Ne, Binh Thuan province.

The contest is hosted by the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province and sponsored by Novaland Group, with the purpose of calling for breakthrough and excellent ideas to make Binh Thuan province a leading MICE and wellness tourism destination of the world in 2045. It officially started on September 10, 2022 and will end in September 2023, with a total prize value of more than 17 billion VND.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee, shared: “The contest is an opportunity to promote Phan Thiet - Binh Thuan tourism with high standard facilities for MICE and Wellness travel. At the same time, this is also one of multiple events to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of Binh Thuan province (1992-2022), the 27th anniversary of Binh Thuan Tourism Day (October 24th, 1995 - October 24th, 2022), and associated with launching events for the National Tourism Year 2023 – Binh Thuan, Green Convergence”

Located at the gateway to the key economic region of the Southeast, Binh Thuan province at the same time holds a strategic position of the South Central Coast region, and is also one of the focal points of the Southern tourism golden quadrilateral. Distinctly aware of Binh Thuan’s advantages and potentials in terms of favorable geography, abundant nature, and standard facilities... the province’s leaders expect to take advantage of available resources and its strategic vision, in order to build a development route for Phan Thiet in particular, and localities in Binh Thuan province in general, contributing to nurturing the aspiration to become the world's leading MICE and Wellness tourism destination in the future.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, General Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated at the announcement ceremony: "Vietnam's tourism picture gradually has many bright spots with signs of prosperity. In the first 8 months of 2022, the amount of international tourists to Vietnam reached more than 1.2 million. The whole country has served nearly 80 million domestic tourists. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at nearly 357 trillion VND. However, the context of global competition after the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic requires us to have long-term orientations and plans, including product innovation, service’s type diversification and quality improvement, promotion of tourism competitive capability in each locality as well as the whole country. Specifically, investment attraction and MICE tourism development are among the important orientations of Vietnam's tourism to 2030”.

Aiming to actualize the strategy and aspiration for Phan Thiet city in particular and the Southern central coastal provinces of Vietnam at large, Binh Thuan province has issued Plan No. 2447/KH-UBND on July 29, 2022 on the organization of the contest "Vietnam's aspiration turning Phan Thiet into the world leading destination for MICE and Wellness tourism in 2045". This contest is to honor and find excellent ideas, dedicating to the development of tourism combined with conferences, seminars (MICE) and health care tourism (Wellness) of Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan. In addition, the contest is also an opportunity to introduce to international friends the image of Phan Thiet as a tourism destination associated with leisure activities, healthcare, and conference, which meets international standard in particular; as well as the image of the city and Vietnam in general.

At the announcement ceremony, the Organizing Committee also introduced about the composition of the Jury, the Topic, the Contest rules and especially the Prize structure. Accordingly, the contest will include 2 main topics: Tourism combined with conferences and seminars (MICE), and tourism combined with healthcare (Wellness). Participants can compete in both topics for a chance to receive valuable prizes from the contest orgaziners, with a special prize of up to 1 billion VND. The winning entries will be selected by the Jury including representatives of Binh Thuan provincial departments and agencies as well as many experts in the fields of tourism, MICE and Wellness.

In the event, a talk show with the theme "Making Phan Thiet the world's top MICE and Wellness tourism destination in 2045" was held with the sharing and discussion of representatives from the participating organizations, central government, departments and branches of Binh Thuan province, as well as domestic and international experts.

Representating the sponsor of the contest, Mr. Bui Xuan Huy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Novaland Group, shared: “We believe that Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan province will be well welcomed by the international community and the feedback results will help Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan province focus on building and developing with international standards to soon become a new destination of the world."

During the one-year period of the contest from September 2022 to September 2023, there will be many international activities and events associated with the contest organized to inspire the public as well as create excitement to the tourism industry of Binh Thuan province. These activities include the Countdown Festival combined with art, light and fashion performances to celeberate the New Year (December 2022), International Food Festival (April 2023), International Sports Week: International Yoga Festival, International Marathon, International Friendship Golf Tournament (the series of events is expected to take place in July or August 2023), and the Award Ceremony of the Competition’s Final (September 2023).

With the size and nature of the Contest, the Organizing Committee hopes to attract the attention of a large number of candidates domestically and internationally, in order to honor and find excellent ideas and contribute to the development of MICE and Wellness tourism of Phan Thiet in particular, and Vietnam in general.
